LINDA BURNEY
Chair, Reconciliation Committee of New South Wales, and former President of the New South Wales Aboriginal Education Consultative Group
Within 9 months of the white settlers, the white invaders, coming into this country, two-thirds of the Aboriginal population - right where you're sitting - were dead. Right where you're sitting you can almost guarantee that there have been black bodies lying there, riddled with smallpox or riddled with bullets. The end result was the same.
Speaking in January 1988, in We Have Survived, Film Australia.
